Organisation, Functions and Duties

Details of Organisational set up, Functions and Duties of the Authority:

The Karnataka State Government has declared Nelamangala Planning Authority Local Planning Area vide Notification No. UDD/63/TTP/1996, Dated:27-01-1997  as per the clause 4 C of Karnataka Town and Country Planning Act 1961.  The Nelamangala Planning Authority has been constituted vide State Government Notification No:UDD/204/TTP/1997 dated: 14-07-1997.  The Planning Authority Office is functioning under the legal jurisdiction of the KTCP Act 1961 and as per the guidelines of the Karnataka Planning Authority rules 1965. The Independent planning authority office started functioning at Nelamangala, Bangalore Rural District since 31-08-2001.

The chairman will be the head of the office and he will be appointed by the State government. The member secretary being the chief executive officer of the office and he will look after all the activities of the office.

The main function of the Planning Authority is to prepare Master plans, planning schemes and to enforce the Master Plan proposals.

At present the Department of Town and Country Planning is fully assisting the Planning Authorities in the preparation of Master plans and in enforcing proposals of Master plans.

            The Nelamangala  Local Planning Area consists of  243 villages of the  Nelamangala  taluk, 42 villages of  Banaglore North Taluk & 60 villages of Magadi Taluk total  345 villages in its jurisdiction. The Local Planning Area measures 734.08 sq. km in area.

      * To prepare Master plans and enforce the plan proposals within Local
         Planning  Area.
      * Furnishing technical opinion to Revenue Department for conversion of        
           agricultural lands for non-agricultural purposes.
      * Approval of layouts (Residential, non-Residential).
      * Technical Scrutiny of building plans and giving Technical Opinion for
          issuing   building Licenses to the concerned Local Authority.
